Luke was born in Alice Springs, Australia and received his early training at Central Dance Theatre and Alice Springs Gymnastics before moving to Sydney to train at Tanya Pearson’s Classical Coaching Academy and Studio Tibor.

Luke furthered his studies in Germany by completing a Bachelor of
Dance at Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden with Honours. Luke was previously a Company dancer with Balet Moskva, Russia from 2016 – 2018, performing in both the Ballet and Contemporary Ensembles.

Luke has worked with and performed the repertoire of an extensive array of Australian and international choreographers. Luke joined Sydney Dance Company in 2019 and New Breed 2022 will be his choreographic debut.

An award-winning choreographer and contemporary dance artist, based on palawa Country in lutruwita/Tasmania, Jenni is “grateful to live and dance upon the unceded lands of our First Nations People across Australia.” Jenni is a performer, teacher, and rehearsal director passionate about living and working regionally and sharing the vitality of the dancing experience through the various limbs of her practice.

Graduating from WAAPA in 2010, Jenni has worked extensively across independent and company environments, performing regionally, nationally and internationally.

Recent works include; Flesh Net – WAAPA, All Expenses Paid – STOMPIN, Trio for Harp, Harpist & Dancer (with Emily Sanzaro) – Tasdance/Ten Days on The Island and Faux Mo House Party – Mona Foma 2022. Jenni is thrilled to receive the 2022 Keir Choreographic ‘People’s Choice Award’ for her new work Wet Hard. Her new independent work, Body Body Commodity, is an investigation of the impacts of consumerism and capitalism on the female body.

Sophia is a graduate of the McDonald College of Performing Arts and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), qualified with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance.

Sophia’s work is concerned with universal resonance. By exploring commonalities in our human experience she builds relationships, meaning and stories between bodies in space working to give audiences a deeply felt experience.

Her choreographic credits include working with the Sydney-based Dance Makers Collective, a solo work ‘In The Light of a Shadow‘ commissioned by Berlin theatre Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, and devising short works for The McDonald College’s Senior Contemporary dance program and WAAPA’s First Year students. She has recently completed a new commission for Ev and Bow Full Time Training Centre.

Charmene is a multi-award-winning dancer, rehearsal director and choreographer. She is a graduate of WAAPA and Purchase College New York.

Charmene joined Sydney Dance Company as a Company Dancer in 2010, performing works from many Australian and international choreographers, receiving great critical acclaim for her dancing and performances.

Charmene choreographed for Sydney Dance Company’s first New Breed season in 2014. Her work Do We, was also performed in Perth by Co3 Company. More recently, as Assistant Choreographer, she worked with Gideon Obarzanek in creating Us 50 which celebrated Sydney Dance Company’s 50th Anniversary.

Attending a performance
Carriageworks is located at 245 Wilson Street Eveleigh and is easily accessible by bus or train, with limited on-site parking also available. You can visit their website for more information.

Your Ticket
Sydney Dance Company will email you your tickets on the day of the performance. On arrival at Carriageworks, download your eTicket and have it ready on your mobile phone for scanning. If you do not have access to email, our box office team will assist you. The box office will open 30-minutes before each event.

Cloakroom
The cloakroom will be open during regular opening hours with strictly limited capacity.
